March 4, 2024 - Genesis 4:7
“You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” Genesis 4:7 NLT
Lord, we desire to do what is right. Grow our desire for righteousness until it overcomes our desire for selfishness that drives us to do wrong. Help us fall more in love with you so that our desire to sin decreases. The more we love you the more we have a hatred for causing you pain. Oh, our love, we don’t want to cause you pain. Remind us of that when sin is crouching at our door enticing us to run away with it. Show us what we can do to lock the door to the sins that we find so enticing. Open our eyes to sins in our lives that we so easily dismiss.
Lord, we know that sin is sin to you. The scale that we use to rate sin and try to easily dismiss the ones that we rate super low, is not of you. Forgive us for ignoring and excusing any sin that you gave your life to forgive. We never want to refuse to do what is right and overlook things that are wrong. Lord, we want to live holy lives for you. We thank you so much for your forgiveness, it is such a wonderful gift. Help us not to abuse that gift and choose to sin knowing you will forgive.
Teach us how to subdue the tempter when he comes to allure us into sin. Teach us how to uproot sin patterns and what to do to guard ourselves from them returning. Any place where sin has allowed Satan to take control over parts of our lives, show us, so we can allow you to break his stronghold over us. Open our eyes to any sin the enemy has us blinded to. Holy Spirit, we invite you in every day to help us choose what is right and walk a righteous life. We thank you that you are more powerful than the enemy. We praise you that you live within us, and you can help us walk in victory over sin. Hallelujah!
In Jesus name, amen.
