March 30, 2025 - Exodus 34:6-7
“The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”” Exodus 34:6-7 ESV
Lord, we praise you for how remarkable you are and how amazing it is to be so loved and cared for by you. We praise you for how merciful and gracious you are. You pour out your grace and mercy over us each day in abundance. We don’t deserve them, but you are faithful to pour them out over us regardless. We are so drawn to sin; our hearts and thoughts often don’t reflect your kingdom ways and then it bleeds out into our actions. The way you forgive us again and again is extraordinary. We would never have the level of patience with other people the way you have with us. You are truly slow to anger with us. We commit our lives to you, and promise to do or not do things, but then we often quickly forget those promises and commitments. We see you do miraculous things in our lives, but then we still find ourselves not walking in faith or trust. We so easily forget how good you are to us. Yet, you extend patience, forgiveness, grace, and mercy again and again. Your steadfast love and faithfulness are always there for us. Yet, you are a just God and if people don’t declare you their God and ask for forgiveness, they will pay for their iniquity. We deserve to pay the price of our sin – death – and we thank you, Jesus, for giving your life to pay our penalty. We see your astonishing love so at work in all you do for us. How wonderful we will have all eternity to thank and praise you!
In Jesus name, amen.
