March 3, 2022 - 1 John 2:6
“Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.” 1 John 2:6 NLT
Jesus, I love that this verse says that we “should” live. It doesn’t tell us to “try to live” or “do our best to live”. It tells us to do it. That must mean that it is possible. I know you would not set us up to fail. You are not a God that sets your expectation for us higher than what is possible. If you tell us that we should do it, then it is possible for us to do it. Oh, but how we need your help to do so.
Jesus, you were such a remarkable man. You walked in such love for people. You had such insight and knowledge. You walked in such intimacy with the Father. You offered so much grace and extended patience to people. You knew how to look at the crowds and find the ones who needed to be seen, the ones whose spirits were searching for you. You lived a life without sin and reflected the Father perfectly. We want to live like you lived. We want to overcome temptation. We want to walk with an intimacy with you and the Father. We want to know your voice and walk in obedience to all you ask. We want your insight to see and know beyond the natural. We want to love people the way you love them. We want to live a beautifully humble life that isn’t tainted by our pride.
Lord, I believe that so much of that will naturally flow out of us the more we deepen our walk with you. We won’t have to strive to make it happen. We want to make our relationship with you the priority in our lives. Teach us how to order our life and our days correctly. Lord, we thank you that you know the season of life that we are in and how to make that season work with you still as our priority. Teach us bring you into all the tasks of our day. Thank you that you see our hearts and you know our desires. If our heart is after you 100% you will bless that.
