March 24, 2022 - John 6:5-9
“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”” John 6:5-9 NIV
Jesus, help us to begin to think with a heavenly mindset. We don’t want to be limited in our thinking like the disciples were in this story. When you ask us questions to test our faith we want to pass. We don’t want to answer with answers limited by earthly limitations. We don’t only want to see “five loaves and two small fish”. We want to see a God who does the impossible. We want to see the potential of what you can do with just the small things we have in our hands. We don’t want to see the impossible situation but set our eyes on the God who can easily overcome the impossible.
Lord, forgive us for the unbelief in our lives that wants to limit what you can do. Let faith rise up in us and let our hearts believe. Let our eyes learn to see into the possibilities of the supernatural God of the impossible. Help our first instinct be to bring our problems to you and believe for you to solve them. Thank you that you want to do so. You want to show the world who you are and what you can do. You are just waiting on us to come to you, with trust and belief, asking you for the impossible. We thank you for your answers! We thank you for being the God of the impossible and that we get to walk this journey with you and see you do the impossible through us.
In Jesus name, amen.
