March 22, 2024 - 2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” 2 Peter 3:9 NLT
Lord, we praise you for being a just God. In the end, the scales will be weighed, and justice will be brought to everyone for all we have done. We praise you for the fact that you sent your son to pay for our sins. We ask for forgiveness and thank you for washing them away. How outstanding is your mercy. We thank you for how you long to see us forgiven and washed as white as snow. We praise you for how patient you are with us. You are way more patient that we will ever be with each other. The way you forgive us again and again, and the way you give us chance after chance to come to know you and bring our sins to you is truly remarkable. Father, all praise be to you. We are so grateful.
Lord, as we are grateful for how you have had so much patience and extended so many mercies to us, let us also have patience and be willing to extend mercy. When we see those who are walking out injustices and we just want you to rain down your judgement, help us learn to pray for them to come to know you. Help us have patience in the waiting for justice. Help us learn to extend forgiveness even when the injustice is against us or someone we love. Help us see these people as people that you also love and long to see restored to you. Help us learn to be as grateful for the forgiveness that you want to extend to them as we are for the forgiveness that you have extended to us. You are such a good God. We thank you that you are not slow because you don’t care, but you are slow because you love and care for each and every one of us. For not one of us deserves your mercy and forgiveness, yet it is freely offered to us. Hallelujah! All praise be unto you!
In Jesus name, amen.
