March 2, 2023 - Philippians 4:6-7
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
Lord, I need to remind myself of this verse often. It is so easy to take our eyes off you and get them focused on the situations in front of us. When we do that, our perspective gets skewed. Our faith shrinks and our worry increases. Forgive us for forgetting who we serve. Nothing is impossible for you. You have everything under control. You know what we want and what we need, as well as what we can and cannot handle. You are always faithful, and we can fully trust in you. That doesn’t mean that things will always turn out like we want them to, maybe they will turn out better, but if not, we can trust that you will help us walk through anything we face.
Lord, help us to remember at the moment we notice ourselves start to worry about things to bring them to you in prayer and leave those things in your capable hands. Help us learn to trust you with them. If the worry starts to return, remind us to bring them back to you in prayer. Let us thank you for hearing our prayers and thank you for the answers that you will send in response. We pray that as we bring our problems and worries to you, you would release in us a greater faith and trust in you.
Lord, we praise you for your peace that exceeds our understanding. We praise you for how you carry our burdens and in exchange you give us peace. It is such a wonderful thing. Even in the craziest storms it will allow us to find rest. When we feel that peace slipping away, help us learn to be quick to return to prayer and allow it to wash over us again. Teach us how to allow it to guard our hearts and minds.
In Jesus name, amen.
