“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” Mark 3:24-25 ESV
Jesus, you said this when you were accused of being of the devil, basically telling them that since what you are doing is coming against the devil you couldn’t be of him. But this statement can be applied to many situations and be true. I think of Revelation 3:15-16 that says that we should be either hot or cold, because if we are lukewarm, you will spit us out. You want us to be fully committed to you – all in to being in your kingdom. If we are not all in you will spit us out because a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. Help us learn to live a “hot” life and be fully a part of your kingdom.
We can also see how this applies to the body of Christ. Everyone who believes in you and has committed their lives to you is a part of your body. We will never agree with everyone in your body, and you didn’t call us to all agree on everything. We are all different and will see and understand things differently. But you have called us to love one another and walk in unity, because a kingdom divided will not stand. Help us learn how to walk in unity and love, even through our differences. Holy Spirit, work in us and help us walk in the Fruit of your Spirit. Draw us as a body closer together and make us into a kingdom that stands strong.
In Jesus name, amen.
