March 17, 2022 - Jonah 1:1-2

“The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”” Jonah 1:1-2 NIV

Lord, we thank you so much that your words come to us. What an amazing thing to have you speak to us. It is crazy to think about who we are and that the God over all wants to talk directly to us. Wow. Thank you for how you love us. Thank you for how you want to walk in relationship with us. We are so humbled and honored. It is such a privilege to hear your plans over our lives. We thank you that you have a calling for each of us. No one is exempt from this. No one was overlooked or too messed up. You have great plans for each of us.

Your plan for Jonah was to bring one of the greatest revivals the world has probably ever seen. What an honor for Jonah to be picked to usher in your presence into the wicked city of Nineveh. Yes, Jonah didn’t see it as an honor. He didn’t want to follow your calling on his life, so he ran. Lord, we don’t want to be like Jonah. Even if your calling scares us, even if it seems like far too big of a task, even if it is something we just don’t want to do, we want to answer the call. We want to walk in obedience to all that you ask of us. We want to see the world changed and revival come when we obey. Lord, how much more reached would the world be if we all answered the call you have on our lives? Never let us settle for the status quo. We don’t want to live a life content to just slide into heaven. We want to come storming in bringing so many more souls with us.

Lord, regardless of how “big” or how “small”, how “wild” or how “normal” your call may seem to us, we know that if we walk in it, we will make an impact for your kingdom. We answer the call. We thank you for the opportunity to have a part in your plans. What a privilege it is!
