March 13, 2023 - Matthew 10:38-39

“And whoever comes to me must follow in my steps and be willing to share my cross and experience it as his own, or he cannot be considered to be my disciple. All who seek to live apart from me will lose it all. But those who let go of their lives for my sake and surrender it all to me will discover true life!” Matthew 10:38-39 TPT

Lord, it’s easy to want to skip over verses like this. Or even read them and agree in concept. But walking these verses out daily in our real life isn’t as easy. I think sometimes the big sacrificial actions are often easier than living out the small ones, minute by minute, day after day. I think this verse is about living the small ones. Lord, help us carry your cross and lay down our lives day after day. Help us crucify our pride and selfishness day after day. Help us put others needs and wants over our own day after day. Help us put your ways above our own day after day. Help us lay our dreams and plans at your feet every day and be willing to let them die if you ask. Let us be willing to lay down whatever you ask of us and make whatever sacrifices you desire from us willingly and the moment you ask.

Lord, we thank you that you promise through surrendering that we will find full and true lives. Help us be willing to let go of anything you ask of us willingly and quickly. We know that you love and cherish us. It is lack of trust that would tell us otherwise and cause us to want to hang on to something. Grow our trust in you.

Help us let go of our lives, dreams, desires for your sake and surrender anything that you ask of us. We know that in doing that we will discover true life and everything we surrender will be replaced with things so much better than anything we have surrendered. You are so amazing, Lord. It is an honor to follow you and lay down our lives for you.
