March 13, 2022 - 1 Samuel 15:22
“But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22 NLT
Lord, we want to be obedient to all that you ask of us. Even if what you ask is scary, we want to be quick to say, “Yes!” Help us learn to trust you. You will never ask us to do anything that will cause us harm. It might be very challenging, difficult, and even painful, but you will always have our best in your plans. Even when you allow really painful things to come our way, you will work out good through them. You will use them to grow and mature us. You will teach us through them and use those experiences to allow us to minister to others better. We can always trust you and follow your directions to us.
Lord, show us any places in our lives where we are not obeying you. Show us places where maybe we have chosen to sacrifice something to make up for an area that we are not walking in obedience. Lord, help us recognize if there are places that we are doing all we can to serve you, but have missed walking the relationship that what you are really after. You want a relationship not a slave. Show us how to put our relationship with you over serving you.
We want to submit to all that you have for us. We thank you for the plans that you have for us. We thank you that when we submit to you, we are always on the winning side. We thank you that if we learn to trust you and overcome the fear that wants to hold us back, our reward will be great. Even if we don’t see the reward here on earth, we will see it in heaven. We thank you for you long to pour out your blessings on those who are following after you and in your ways. We commit our lives to being obedient followers of you. You are so worthy of our “Yes!”
