March 1, 2025 - 1 Samuel‬ ‭10‬:‭6

“The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.” 1 Samuel 10:6 NIV

Lord, this is what Samuel told Saul when he anointed him to be king of Israel. Your Spirit came upon him and gave him abilities beyond his abilities. When your Spirit came on him it literally changed him into a different person. A person now capable of occupying the position you were placing him in. Lord, when you call us to something, you equip us to do those things. So often the things you call us to are bigger than what we are capable of doing on our own, but you don’t call us to accomplish things on our own. You want us to do things with you, not for you. When we are walking in your spirit, you will make us into the people that we need to be to do what you are asking of us.

But if we keep following Saul’s life, we also see what happens when he decides to stop walking in your Spirit. When he starts doing things on his own, we see him fall away from you and your ways. You called him to lead your people in a way that they would be drawn closer to you, but when he was no longer doing that eventually you replaced him. Lord, help us to learn to walk in your Spirit in all we do and guard us from walking in our own ways. Transform us into the people you created us to be and need us to be to accomplish all you are calling us to. Help us learn to always do things with you and not for you. We want our lives to bring you glory and lead others to you.
