March 1, 2022 - 2 Peter 2:5,7,9
“And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood. But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.” 2 Peter 2:5,7,9 NLT
Lord, when we look at both Noah and Lot, they were living in a time and place where people were so evil and immoral that you literally decided to destroy that place and everyone there. We so often look around our world today and see all the evil and think that it is terrible. But how much worse must these places have been for you to literally destroy them. We praise you for the grace that we live under today. We ask that you help us keep our world from getting to that place again where there are literally just a handful of righteous people on the earth. We pray that your Spirit would pour out your presence across the earth. Bring a great revival that would draw so many people into righteousness.
We thank you for the courage and faith that Noah and Lot had that enabled them to walk upright in their culture. What an inspiration they are to us. Give us the faith to stand up for you and your ways regardless of the consequences. We thank you that we can trust that you are with us and will have our backs. We thank you for knowing how to rescue righteous people from their trials. We thank you that even if we must walk through that trial, we know that you are walking with us. You are giving us strength. We trust that you are growing us and that your name will be made known.
In Jesus name, amen.
