June 25, 2024 - 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
“Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.” 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 NLT
Lord, we praise you for those who have gone before us that have laid the foundations for us. There are millions of believers who lived their lives, many of who gave their lives, for the Gospel to be proclaimed. The Gospel is still being proclaimed because of those foundations. As we live our lives, we continue to build on what they have laid. We lay other foundations for the generations coming after us to build on. What are we laying? At the end of our lives will we be able to say that we laid the foundation like an expert builder? Are we building with materials that will last for eternity and allow others to build upon or are we building with straw? Lord, show us where we are cutting corners and using poor materials. Forgive us. Teach us how to build things that will last. We don’t want to get to heaven and have nothing to share for our time here on earth. We praise you for your grace that brings salvation, but we don’t want to barely get into heaven. We want to come flying in, bringing as many others with us as we can. All for your glory, our Lord.
In Jesus name, amen.
