June 23, 2024 - Romans 5:18-19
“Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.” Romans 5:18-19 NLT
Lord, it can be so easy for us to think that we are just one person out of billions. What real significance can our little life make? Forgive us for any thoughts like this that we may have. Forgive us for how those type thoughts affect our actions. We are all created for a purpose. You have given each of us significant things to do in our lives that will make an eternal difference. It is our decision whether we will walk in obedience to your call and fulfill those things or if we will walk in disobedience. Lord, we want our lives to matter for generations to come. Help us always choose to follow your leading. Help us to always say, “yes” to anything you ask of us. It is simply our obedience that will change history. We will not know until we get to heaven what an impact our prayers had, or pouring into that one child did for the future of your kingdom’s growth. What can seem like small tasks to us can have a massive ripple effect in your kingdom. Our largest impacts might be traced back to something that could have seemed like such an insignificant thing at the time.
Lord, we also realize that our sin can work the same way. It might not seem like a big deal. It might seem like it doesn’t affect anyone else, but that isn’t how you look at it. Sin separates us from you, Lord. It will keep us from walking in all you have for us. It can also have ramifications that last for generations, only in a negative way. Help us see sin for what it is and help us be quick to remove it and not justify it.
In Jesus name, amen.
