June 22, 2024 - 2 Corinthians 5:9-10
Our only goal is to please God whether we live here or there, because we must all stand before Christ to be judged. Each of us will receive what we should get—good or bad—for the things we did in the earthly body.” 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 NCV
Lord, help us make it our only goal in life to please you. It sounds like such a beautiful statement, yet in reality for a lot of us it is really hard to live out. It can be so easy for us to put man’s opinion of us higher than it should be. Forgive us for living to please man. Teach us how to truly live to please you in everything. Even when that means we must make a decision that someone might not like. Even when we must stand for truth and righteousness in a world where it isn’t valued. Even when it means showing love and kindness to someone that we would rather ignore.
Holy Spirit, walk closely with us. Help us live in such a way that reflects the statement that our only goal in life is to please you. Show us how to do this not just in the big things in life, but in the everyday mundane things. We want to invite you into everything we do and do even the routine things with you and for you. When we stand before you on judgement day and give account for our every action, let it show that we truly lived our life to please you.
