June 18, 2023 - Proverbs 23:24
"The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him." Proverbs 23:24 NIV
Lord, we thank you so much for our fathers and the other Godly men you have put in our lives that also “father” us. For those of us who are blessed enough to have fathers with a heart for you, we praise you for them. What a blessing they are to us. For those whose fathers are not following after you, we pray for their salvation. Open their eyes to who you are and how you feel about them. Let them have an encounter with your love for them and draw them into you.
Today, we ask for you to pour your blessings over them. Let them encounter you in a deep way. We pray this verse over us. Let the way we live our lives be such a blessing to them. Let us bring honor to their name. Help us walk a righteous life and let it bring joy to them. Give us your wisdom in abundance and let our fathers rejoice in it.
Deepen our relationships with our fathers. If there is any strife in our relationships, show us how we can work towards making that right. Help us offer forgiveness where needed and offer sincere apologies where that is needed. Help build bridges where they have been destroyed and seem beyond repair.
For those who are fathers, help us raise our children in a manner that will honor you and lead them to you. Give us wisdom to know how to love them and care for them as you would, our perfect father. Give us wisdom on how to balance discipline and mercy. Help us father our children like you father us.
Father, we also honor you today for being the best father ever. The way you love us is perfect. Thank you for how you take care of us even when we don’t deserve it. Thank you for your forgiveness and for how you discipline us in the most loving of ways. Thank you for how you never miss even one moment of our lives. You are amazing! We love you.
