“Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they could see, and they followed him.” Matthew 20:34 NLT
Jesus, I love the compassion that we see in you throughout the Bible. You truly do love us. You see us in our suffering, and you are moved to action. We are seen by you. You see deep within us. You know and understand what we are feeling. You understand our hurts and pain. You see our needs and you want to meet them. Thank you for how wonderful that is. Thank you for being a God who cares. You are not a God that is removed and unfeeling. Our suffering causes you to suffer. You even chose to suffer so that we could be set free from suffering. You are such an amazing God. It truly is an honor to serve you.
Lord, we ask for you to help us remember this fact when we are suffering. When life hurts and we feel alone, remind us that you are with us. Remind us that you truly see us in our pain and your compassion is with us. Open our eyes to see the ways you extend your compassion to us each day. We thank you that because of your compassion you offer us grace and mercy when we deserve punishment. You are truly a wonderful God. We offer our utmost thanks to you.
In Jesus name, amen.
