June 10, 2024 - 1 Corinthians 2:2-5

“For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:2-5 NLT

Wow, Lord, I love the simplicity of Paul’s statement here, yet the tremendous power that it holds. How often do we complicate the message of you. We get so wrapped up in so many things that we miss the core of the message. That core is you Jesus. It is who you are. It is how you lived your life. It is why you chose to die for us. It is the fact that you rose from the dead and are seated in heaven. It is the promise that you will come again and take your followers home to be with you. It is how you long to see everyone know who you are. It is how you long redeem us from all the pain, the troubles, the messes, the sin, and the snares we manage to find ourselves in. Jesus, you are a message of hope and love.

Lord, we want to be like Paul and take your message into the world that you have called us into. Help us not to try and dress it all up so that we sound profound. It can’t be about us. Help us to never allow our pride to get in the way of your message. Holy Spirit, we must have you with us. We need your help. It is through your power that people come to salvation. Be with us. Lead us. Give us just the right words. Help us live in a way that your power can flow through us. Help us live our lives everyday trusting in the power of God.

In Jesus name, amen.
