June 1, 2022 - Ephesians 5:15-17
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” Ephesians 5:15-17 NLT
Lord, we want to live wholeheartedly for you. We know that the enemy wants to destroy our relationship with you. As we pursue moving forward in righteousness, Satan is constantly scheming ways to cause us to slide backwards in that journey. If we are not vigilant in our walk, we suddenly look around and find that we are not where we wanted to be. The slide backwards can happen so quickly and unassumingly. One minute we can be passionately pursuing you and then next in the middle of a sinful mess, not knowing how we ended up there. Help us guard our steps and be so aware. We want to live a careful life and make wise choices that keep us far from things that could easily put us on a slippery path backwards. Help us pursue righteousness with all that we are.
Lord, we also want to make the most of the life that you have given us. We don’t want to get to heaven and look back on our life with regrets of how much more we could have done. Give us wisdom on how to prioritize our lives around things that really matter and not things that don’t matter in the realm of eternity. Especially if there are things in the name of serving you or ministry that are just wasting our time. We want our time to really matter in glorifying you and making your name known. Open our eyes to things that we need to change or eliminate. Help us not to thoughtlessly walk through life but live a purposeful life for you. Give us clarity on what you are calling us to do and how you want us to accomplish those things. We are determined to follow in obedience to all that you ask of us.
In Jesus name, amen.
