July 9, 2024 - Psalms‬ ‭85‬:‭8‬-‭9‬

“I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, so our land will be filled with his glory.” Psalms 85:8-9 NLT

Lord, we thank you that you speak to us today. Hearing you voice isn’t just something for the people in the Bible times. Not at all. You are still speaking to us today. Help us learn to listen carefully to what you are saying. We want to be faithful people who receive the peace that you want to speak to us. When we read your Word, or hear you speak another way, help us to walk in obedience to what you say. We don’t want to be the foolish people who hear your voice but then turn away from what you are telling us. You are the God over all. Yes, you are merciful, and we are covered with your grace, but don’t let us excuse our sin because of those facts. Help us to walk in the fear of God when we look at sin. Help us to understand the pain it causes you when we choose sin over doing what will please you. We want to live in such a way that we are filled with your glory and shine bright for the world to see you through us. Help us live lives that are honoring to you.
