July 7, 2022 - Psalms 9:10
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalms 9:10 NIV
Lord, we praise you that you are such a trustworthy God. You will never let us down. Your promises will never fail us. You stand outside of time and are all knowing. You see and understand all people. Nothing can take you by surprise. You are wisdom and love. How can we not trust you and your advice? We would be utter fools to think we could know better than you or take care of ourselves better than you can. If we really believe the truth of who you are, trusting you should be an easy thing. When we get to a place of wanting to pull back from trusting you and try to control the situation ourselves, please forgive us and remind us of who you are. Lord, we never want to try to control you or manipulate you to do what we want. That isn’t having faith in you. Our faith and trust in you can’t be based on us getting our way. Help us let go of control and fully put our faith and trust back in you, regardless of the outcome.
Lord, today we declare that we know that trusting in you doesn’t mean that things will always turn out the way we wanted. It doesn’t even mean that things will always turn out good. Trusting in you means that even if things turn out to be horrible and we are totally scared, that we don’t quit believing the best of you. In those moments help us keep our faith in you. Help us to keep seeing you as good and trustworthy. We know that you are still in charge, you still love us, and you are still with us. If we can keep believing in you, once we make it through the situation, we will know you better and be stronger because of it. Grow our trust in you that it will not falter no matter what we face in this life. We praise you that we can boldly stand on the promise of this verse – you will never forsake us.
