July 5, 2022 - Acts 16:6,7,9
“Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.” Acts 16:6,7,9 NLT
Lord, we thank you for how you speak to us and guide us. Thank you that if we are seeking you, you will light our path. You don’t leave us to wander by ourselves hoping we manage to find our way. You will make our steps clear. You will open the right doors for us and close the wrong ones. We praise you for this. Lord, we know that you might not tell us as quickly as we want to know, and you might only tell us one step at a time. We might not have a clue where we are going to end up or when we will get there, but we will know each time we need to take a turn or go through a different door. Help us learn to trust you more even in the waiting. Help us to just to keep doing the last thing you told us to do until you tell us something different.
Lord, we know that Paul was a person who was seeking your direction in his life. We see in this passage that your Holy Spirit was closing doors and not allowing them to go in the direction they wanted to go. Help us listen like Paul did. Holy Spirit, we ask that you guide us like you did Paul. Close the wrong doors and open the right ones in our lives. Help us to listen closely to what you are saying and follow your instructions even if they don’t make sense. We want to always choose to follow your leading.
In Jesus name, amen.
