July 30, 2024 - Luke 17:5-6
“The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.” The Lord answered, “If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you!” Luke 17:5-6 NLT
Jesus, as we read about you in the Gospels, we see so many places where you express how important faith is to you. It is most often because of people’s faith that you are moved to perform the miracles that changed their lives. Lord, we want to be people of faith. We want to have our trust firm in you. We want to believe that you can do miracles in and through us. We want to believe that we can stand and move in the authority you have given each of us. We want to believe the trust that you have spoken applies to our lives. As much as we want all these things, it does take faith. Sometimes it can seem so hard to find the faith we need as we stare down the mountain in our path that needs to move. Lord, we praise you for the truth of this verse. We only need a little faith, and we can see the mountains move. We praise you that you don’t require much from us, but even in the most impossible looking situation, if all we can find is a little faith, it can be all we need. Lord, we do ask that you would help us grow our faith. Never stop giving us greater challenges that require us to believe you for a little more than last time. Push us and allow us to get to the point that we can be a young boy who walks up to Goliath and believes that you will destroy him, even if all we have is a sling and a few pebbles. With you all things are possible. We stand firm on that fact and trust you to use what we have. We praise you God that you are always there to fight for us and do what we cannot do on our own. All praise be your name.
In Jesus name, amen.
