July 25, 2024 - Romans 10:1-4
“Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.” Romans 10:1-4 NLT
Lord, we want to live for you with zeal, but help it not be misdirected zeal. Uproot anything in us that doesn’t line up with your truth. Tear down any lies we are believing, especially those that really look like truth and can be so easily believed. We want to serve you with our whole heart out of love for you. Help us not to live under the law and serve you out of an obligation or fear of messing up. Jesus, we thank you that you gave your life to pay the price of the law. We don’t have to live under the bondage of it any longer. But we also ask for you to help us really understand what that means. It doesn’t mean that we can do whatever we want or whatever feels good/right to us. Transform our hearts and give us a hunger to go deeper in you. Grow our love for you and open our hearts to really experience what it means to be completely and perfectly loved by you. Lord, when we have a deep encounter with you and experience your love for us, how can we not want to honor you with all we are. It will make us want to run from anything that will not bring honor to you. Let our zeal be based out of love for you and help us work to live righteously because we want to glorify you in all we do.
In Jesus name, amen.
