July 24, 2024 - Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭7‬, ‭13

“Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God’s eyes, careful to obey all of the Lord’s commandments and regulations. They had no children because Elizabeth was unable to conceive, and they were both very old. But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John.” Luke 1:6-7, 13 NLT

Lord, thank you that you are the God of the impossible. We thank you that you are also the God who hears our prayers. You see our every desire. You knew how Zechariah and Elizabeth wanted children. In the physical they were too old to have children, but to you nothing is impossible. We read in these verses that Zechariah and Elizabeth lived to please you, and because of that, you chose them to raise John the Baptist. And in doing so, you answered the longing of their hearts for a child even at an old age.

Lord, we surrender our lives, our hopes, our dreams, and our futures to you. We want our lives to be played out in your ways and according to your plans. Do impossible things for us and through us. We don’t want to live within our comfort zones and in our own strength. Help us always walk in trust that no matter what we face and no matter how impossible or hopeless things look, you can make a way. Help us to always live in a manner that doesn’t limit what you want to do through us.

In Jesus name, amen.
