July 24, 2023 - Isaiah 44:3
“For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and streams upon the dry ground...” Isaiah 44:3 ASV
Lord, we thank you that you are the living water. You say all who come to you will never thrist again. What a promise. We thank you that if your word says it, it is true. But that leaves us with such a sad picture when we see ourselves and other Christians at times dry and thirsty. Why do we allow ourselves to get to the places of being dry, when you promise us that you will provide streams in the desert, and we never have to thirst? Why do we allow ourselves at times to struggle along, so thirsty to drink you in again?
Forgive us for the times when we choose for whatever reason to shrivel up like a plant dying of thirst instead of drinking. Forgive us for the times when we choose to believe the lies that tell us that we are not worthy to drink, or the water isn’t available. Forgive us for when we don’t take the time to fight through the lies and drink your living water. Forgive us for the times when we are just too busy to take the time to stop and drink. There can be so many reasons, but the reality is that there is no reason why we ever need to thirst.
Help us to learn to live lives where we keep ourselves pressed into you and our lives full to overflowing. Let us live in your abundance and thirst no more. Never let us buy into any lies that would tell us that some seasons are just dry. Even in the seasons where we are walking through a desert, this verse tells us that you will give us a stream. We thank you Lord. Let us never forget this truth. Let the fact that we are full of you even in the toughest season of life be such a testimony to the world around us. Help us commit every day to spending time with you, drinking in all that you have for us that day.
In Jesus name, amen.
