July 2, 2023 - Matthew 18:4
“Whoever continually humbles himself to become like this little child is the greatest one in heaven’s kingdom realm.” Matthew 18:4 TPT
Lord, we want to be known as people who walk in humility. Help us to live our lives where it isn’t about us and our selfishness, but about you and your kingdom. In Proverbs 25:6-7 and again in Luke 14, you tell us not to put ourselves in a place of honor, but to take the lowly place and wait for the host to invite us up. Lord, help us to live our lives in that manner. To always choose the lowly place and wait for you or others to elevate us.
Lord, I also ask for you to help us see, know, and live out the difference between humility and insecurity. We don’t want to live in lowly places because we feel we hold no value. Teach us how to live confidently as sons and daughters of the King and boldly walk in the authority that comes with that position. Then from that place let us choose to always take the humble road.
Lord, I also pray that you would help us to live our lives with child-like wonder, joy, and faith. Let us find the newness of everyday and celebrate it like a child. Let us bring joy and laughter into the world around us like a child. Let us live our lives like the young child that doesn’t care what people think, but just dances around and enjoys life. Let us boldly be who you called us to be but live that out in humility. It can seem like a bit of a contradiction, but it is one of the beautiful, heavenly contradictions that you will help us live in. Thank you so much for how your Kingdom works. It is such a beautiful thing. It comes against the nature of man and what we have made of this world. It stands out as extremely beautiful in comparison. We want to live out that beauty in all we do.
In Jesus name, amen.
