July 18, 2022 - Deuteronomy 20:3-4
“He will say to them, ‘Listen to me, all you men of Israel! Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them. For the LORD your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’” Deuteronomy 20:3-4 NLT
Lord, we praise you that our battles belong to you. We may have to show up to the fight, but you go with us. We can have peace no matter what we face. We praise you. If we are walking in fear, remind us that you are fighting against our enemies. When the enemy is pressing in on us and seems to far outnumber us, help us to stir up our faith like David did with Goliath. We want to put on our armor everyday so that we are ready to face anything that comes our way. Lord, you have given us armor to keep us safe in the battles. Please teach us how to effectively use the armor at our disposal. If we are not actively using it, then we can’t blame you if we are injured foolishly.
Help us remember to ask you what our role is in every battle we face. Then let us hear your voice clearly and understand. Thank you that you desire to speak to us and give us direction. We think about all the times the Israelites went to battle. Sometimes you told them to fight. Sometimes you gave them specific strategies on how to enter the battle. Sometimes they didn’t fight at all but followed directions from you and you completely won the battle for them. Some of the things that you asked them to do made them look foolish. We want to ask and then walk in obedience to anything you say.
Lord, we also ask that you show us if we are facing any battles that we should not be facing, because we have given sin a place in our lives. We don’t want to be defeated because of disobedience. Help us keep our lives on your side of the battle line and watch you fight against our enemies.
