July 16, 2023 - Galatians 6:9
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 NLT
Lord, it can be so easy to find ourselves tired and weary. Forgive us for the times that we get so wrapped up in the tasks of life that we forget to spend time with you. It is in sitting at your feet that we get filled up and refreshed so that we can accomplish the tasks in a healthy way. Forgive us for the times when we work as if we need to earn your love or prove our devotion to you. This is the opposite of reality. Lord, we thank you that you don’t work like that. We thank you that you give your love, acceptance, and approval to us freely. We don’t have to earn any of it. As a matter of fact, you are more pleased when we have an attitude of worshiping and fellowshipping with you like Mary did and not when we have a task driven attitude like Martha. Help us truly grasp how to live like this.
We want to be people who know you intimately and are marked by spending time with you. We also want to be people who accomplish great things for you. We want to reap a harvest of blessings. Help us understand how to prioritize our days. You are the source of our strength and our joy. Help us truly understand that the most important thing is spending time with you. Getting to know you intimately must come first.
Lord, draw us deeper into your love. Let spending time with you be something we crave like a drug addict craves their next hit. Let it be something that we just can’t live without. We want so much of you in our lives. Thank you that you want a relationship with us and are just waiting for us to stop and press into you. We thank you that you want to fill us full to overflowing so we don’t serve from a place of weariness.
