July 12, 2024 - 1 Corinthians 10:1-4
“I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses. All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 NLT
Lord, we praise you for how you love to move in miraculous ways for your followers. We see it in this story. You led them into an impossible situation so that you could show them your power and how you wanted to take care of them. You had them build a memorial. It was a story that was passed down from generation to generation. We see that here in the book of Corinthians, it was used as a way to encourage the church and remind them of your faithfulness to move in impossible ways for us. Lord, when we see your faithfulness at work in our lives help us to stop and make note of it. Maybe we need to write it down somewhere. We want to keep records of how you have rescued us so we can stand on it when we need reminding of your faithfulness. We want to tell these stories to others as a testament to who you are and as a way to encourage them. We don’t want to take your works in our life for granted, or say a quick thanks then rush on to the next thing and never to think of that again. Give us your strategy for each of us to build a memorial to you for your mighty works in our lives.
In Jesus name, amen.
