July 1, 2024 - Psalms 81:13-16
“Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes! Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him; they would be doomed forever. But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.”” Psalms 81:13-16 NLT
Lord, make us a people who stop and really listen to you. We want to be a people who follow close behind you. Help us to not get distracted and veer off but keep us walking on your path. We want to seek you above all else. We want to keep our eyes focused on you, so we know exactly where you are heading. Lord, we praise you for how you long to have us follow you like this. It is for our good. When we are listening to you and following you, your hand is with us. You fight our battles. You take care of our needs with the finest of things. You do the impossible for us. You are such an amazing God. It really is an honor to serve you. The way you take care of us is remarkable. Grow our walk with you so that our desire to listen to and please you is more than our desire to please ourselves. When we read the stories in the Bible, we see so many examples of people who were fickle in their walk with you. Their passion for you would grow and then fade away. Holy Spirit, give us a hunger that keeps us pressing into more of you and keeps our passion burning hot. Help us eliminate things in our lives that will distract us and cool our passion off.
In Jesus name, amen.
