January 9, 2025 - John‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬-‭23

“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” John 17:20-23 NLT

Jesus, I love how inclusive you are. You, the Father and the Holy Spirit exist in perfect unity. You don’t want to keep that for yourselves. You created us because you wanted to include us in your unity. You didn’t create us so that you would have someone to rule over. You don’t need us to serve or worship you. You are not a God with needs. You already have heavenly creatures worshiping you. You wanted to walk in relationship with us. It is so hard for our minds to comprehend why you would want to include us in your perfect unity. Open our minds and help us understand.

Teach us how to walk in unity with you. Draw us closer. Give us a desire to walk in righteousness. We welcome you to come and purify us. Help us to not live in any way that would bring you pain, but to let all we do be inspired by our love for you. Fill us with your glory and make us more like you. Show us the places in our lives where we don’t look like you and help us change those areas. Let us experience what it is like to live in your perfect unity. We want the world to see you when they look at us. Use us to draw others to you.

In Jesus name, amen.
