January 6, 2025 - Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭43

“But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.”” Luke 4:43 NLT

Jesus, you came to us here on Earth to declare the Good News to us. You laid down so much to bring this Good News directly to us. You are the Good News. You came down to live among us, because you want us to know you. You want us to encounter your love. We can’t even begin to comprehend what you sacrificed for us by leaving Heaven and coming to earth. Then you chose to live as a common human. You didn’t come to be served but to serve. You didn’t find a plush mansion with all the finest of things to rule from. You didn’t even have a home. You lived among the people traveling from place to place sharing your love with as many people as you could. You sought out the lost and hurting. You lived among the outcasts because they were the ones who were desperate for your Good News. Make us the ones who are desperate for you, not set in our ways and content with a little of you. We want to be the ones that are desperate for all that you have for us.

Jesus, you have left us with the task of spreading your Good News throughout the world. Make us more like you in our willingness to not stay in the places where your Good News is known, but to take you to the lost and hurting. Lead us to those who are desperate for an encounter with your love. Even if they don’t know that is what they are looking for, show us how to be your hands and feet, loving them like you would. Holy Spirit, come and prepare the way, lead us to them, and guide us in presenting you. Burden our hearts to pray for the lost. Show us specific people or people groups that we are to go to war for them in prayer until they come to know you. Use us to be messengers of the Good News throughout the world in unhindered, and unprecedented ways.
