January 4, 2022 - Psalms 28:1
“I pray to you, O Lord, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die.” Psalms 28:1 NLT
Lord, we praise you that you are our rock. You are our firm foundation. You will never waver or fail us. We praise you that we can always count on you. We thank you that you always hear our every prayer. You hear the deep longings of our soul, the things we can’t even put into words or fully understand. Thank you for how you long for us to come to you and pray. You long to speak to us. How wonderful are these things!
Without you there for us there is no meaning to life. You are what gives us life and makes it worth living. Having a relationship with you and feeling your love gives our lives value. Lord, if you were to withhold yourself from us, like David said, we might as well die. For Lord, we need you more than we need life itself. But, we thank you that you don’t fully withhold yourself from us. Even when we can’t feel or see you, you are right there. You see us and you know us.
We praise you that you promise us in Deut 31:6 & 8, that you will never leave us or forsake us. You promise us in 1 Peter 3:12, that you always hear the prayers of the righteous. We praise you that we don’t have to be perfect. When we mess up, we just need to come to you with repentant hearts and ask for forgiveness. You promise in Isaiah 1:18, you will purify us and make us whiter than snow. Lord, we praise you that the Bible tells us in many places that your steadfast love will endure forever. We thank you that we don’t have to worry that your love for us will run out. Jesus, you are so astonishing. Help us learn to believe and trust in you and your promises.
In Jesus name, amen.
