January 30, 2023 - Proverbs 30:1-4
“I am weary, O God; I am weary and worn out, O God. I am too stupid to be human, and I lack common sense. I have not mastered human wisdom, nor do I know the Holy One. Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name—and his son’s name? Tell me if you know!” Proverbs 30:1-4 NLT
Lord, as I read these verses my heart aches for the millions of people who fall into this category. They might not even understand that this is where they are, yet this is the cry of their souls. They have an emptiness inside of them that will only be filled when they surrender to you. They can try to fill that space with other things, but nothing will satisfy it. Trying other things will only leave them weary and worn out. What they long for is to know the Holy One. Yet, a very large percentage of them have never even heard of you, Jesus. How is it possible that it has been 2000 years since you came to earth to restore us to you, and yet we still have not made your name known to so much of the world? It is a large task, but if we would make it a priority as you have asked, then the situation would look differently.
Lord, help us change our mindset and our priorities. You might not be calling all of us to go to the places in the world where your name isn’t known, but you are calling all of us to have a part in making your name known. Show us what our place should be. Are we supposed to “adopt” a country or place and intercede for their salvation regularly? Should we be supporting ministries or missionaries working in these least reached places? What are you speaking to us? We want to take the time to ask and then step out in obedience. We want to be willing to rearrange our lives to do our part to make your name known to those who don’t know you.
In Jesus name, amen.
