January 23, 2022 - Hebrews 4:14-15

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” Hebrews 4:14-15 NIV

Jesus, we praise you our great High Priest. You are so worthy of all of our praises. You are the most high God. Every knee will bow before you. It is such a wild thought that you, the Almighty and the most powerful God, knows us by name. Not only do you know us, but you care about us. You know every detail, every thought. You call us your precious treasure. You came to earth to redeem us back into right relationship with you. That kind of love is astounding. We don’t have words big enough to express our gratitude to you.

Lord, we thank you so much that you came to earth and lived life as a human. You have experienced joys, victories, struggles, and pain. You can relate to us and understand what we are going through. What a beautiful thing. The fact that the God over all would choose to leave heaven and come to earth as a human so you can relate to us is something that we can’t even begin to fully wrap our minds around. We are so grateful for all you have done for us.

Lord, we thank you that you are not holding us to a standard that you didn’t live under. We ask that you teach us how to live like you lived. You faced temptation and yet you didn’t sin. Holy Spirit, come and lead us in living like Jesus lived. Show us how to use your power like Jesus did and teach us to overcome the temptations that we face daily. Jesus, draw us closer to you. Increase our love for you. We want to know you intimately. We want to live our lives here on earth in a way that we shine your glory into the world around us and draw men to you.

In Jesus name, amen.
