January 2, 2022 - Psalms 42:7-8
“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.” Psalms 42:7-8 NIV
Lord, we praise you for your love. We praise you that it hears the deep calling of our souls, and it answers. We praise you that it calls out to us. Let it call to the depths of who we are and awaken the core of who we are. We want to love you with all that we are. We invite you to sweep over us and pull us under your love like the waves at the beach. Drown us in you. Allow everything that is not of you or pleasing to you be washed away. Forgive us for our self-serving sins. Let us taste something so wonderful that the things that used to tempt us are now bitter in comparison to you.
Lord, it is remarkable how your love for us is so pure. We thank you that we don’t have to earn it, for we never could. We thank you that none of us deserve it, yet you freely give it. We thank you that no one is exempted from being able to freely receive it. We ask that you come and silence any lies of the enemy in our heads that would tell us anything different than this truth. Open our ears and our hearts and allow us to hear the love songs that you sing over us.
Let your love be something that we just can’t get enough of. Show each of us in whatever season we are in, how to prioritize you in our lives. Lord, in some seasons that is easier than others. Help us figure out in the busiest, craziest seasons what it looks like to make space for you. Show us how to bring you into the craziness with us and walk in constant fellowship. Teach us how to live a lifestyle of fellowship and love, and not just check you off our “to do” lists. We want your love to be the anchor of our lives that everything flows out of.
In Jesus name, amen.
