“Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life. You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.” Proverbs 19:20-21 NLT
Lord, I am such a planner. I am always thinking through the options. From the big life plans to the little things of what my day will look like, I make lists and work to complete them. Even as I sit to write this and start thinking about plans, I am having to keep my mind from wandering down the planning trail. I can waste so much time thinking through possible plans for different situations that never come to being. Lord, I know you made my mind this way and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I need to hear from you. Where should I spend my efforts planning and where am I wasting my time? When am I getting ahead of you? We want what you have for us and not what we think is best with our limited sight.
Lord, we invite you to come and help us with planning. Give us your insights and instructions. Where we want to get advice and confirmation from those wiser than us here on earth, you are our main source of wisdom and direction. You are our guide. Teach us how to clearly hear and understand your voice. Give us a greater desire to spend time in your Word so we know it. We know you will speak to us through it and what you speak will always align with what is written in it. If what we think we are hearing doesn’t align with it, then we can be assured that we are not hearing correctly.
Lord, let your purpose prevail in our lives. We, one hundred percent, surrender to your plans. We abandon our plans for yours. We need you. Lead and guide us. When we take wrong turns, run ahead, or fall behind, show us, and realign us. Quickly get us back on track with you before we are too far off. We proclaim that we trust you, your ways, and your timing.
In Jesus name, amen.
