January 18, 2025 - Mark 5:28-31
“For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?” And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’”” Mark 5:28-31 ESV
Jesus, you are so full of healing power. We see all through the Gospels how you healed people physically and spiritually. You love restoring wholeness to people. You love to see all of us walking in wholeness. It is a part of who you are. Restoring people isn’t something you have to conjure up to make happen, or decide if you want to do it, no, it is at the very core of who you are. We see it here when someone with the right heart attitude and faith touched you, desperate for healing and was healed. You didn’t order it to happen, but when her need and faith encountered you, healing happened.
Jesus, when we make space in our lives to sit in your presence, restoration happens. When we open our lives up to you and really let you in, you will do your work in us. There isn’t a formula we need to follow to find restoration, we just need to touch you. Holy Spirit, lead us into the presence of Jesus. Take us deeper. Help us open up who we are to you and give you access to the places that need your healing touch. Make us desperate like this woman to not care what it costs us, or what others think - to not care if we must crawl through the dirt and the crowds to just reach the hem of your garment. Let us be willing to pay any cost to touch you and allow you to touch us in a way that changes us into who you designed us to be.
In Jesus name, amen.
