January 18, 2023 - Proverbs 18:10
“The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10 NLT
Lord, we praise you that you are our strong fortress. Nothing can defeat you. No storm can blow or shake hard enough to rattle or bring down your walls. No one is wise enough to strategize a way to get past your defenses; for no one is wiser than you. You are truly a strong fortress. We praise you for how you love and care for us. You want to keep us safe. That doesn’t mean that nothing bad will ever happen to us, but it does mean that you will carry us through anything we face. It means that we can run to you and find sure footing and stable ground even if everything around us is shaking and falling. When the storms of life are raging all around us, we can find peace to go through it in you. Even when we have no idea how things will turn out and it looks as though all hope should be lost, we can still find our hope in you. Our hope is not contingent on earthly situations, but on you, and you are steadfast.
Lord, would you increase our faith and trust in you so that regardless of what life looks like around us, we will hold fast to you. Teach us how to always rest in your peace. We praise you for the storms that we have found shelter in you to get through. Remind of us the ways that you have carried us through. We praise you that you will never let us down. If we look back over our lives and think of any situation where you have let us down, please open our eyes to the truth. Give us your understanding of what was really going on and how you were there with us. Change our mindset to always see you as the faithful God that you are. You are our strong fortress, a sure foundation that we can have complete faith in. We praise you for that fact.
