January 16, 2024 - Proverbs 16:1-4a
“Go ahead and make all the plans you want, but it’s the Lord who will ultimately direct your steps. We are all in love with our own opinions, convinced they’re correct. But the Lord is in the midst of us, testing and probing our every motive. Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed. The Lord works everything together to accomplish his purpose...” Proverbs 16:1-4a TPT
Lord, thank you for being such an amazing God. You created the massiveness of the universe and the intricate details of the atom. And you make it all work together in perfect harmony. You can see the grandness of how all of history works together and planned it accordingly. You also see every detail of our lives - every feeling, every thought, every motive of our hearts. You see and know it all. Thank you that it is you that ultimately directs our steps. As much as we can think through and strategize our steps, we are not all knowing; we can’t see the bigger picture. We need you to guide us. We give you permission to mess up our plans. Help us to always hold our plans with open hands so you can easily change them if you have different plans. We want to trust you more than we trust ourselves.
We ask for you to search our hearts and reveal to us our motives. Show us places where we are doing things out of a wrong motive. Open our eyes to it and give us a desire to see our wrong motives come into alignment with your ways. Give us your wisdom and help us choose to keep our hearts teachable.
We worship you for how big and amazing you are. For how wise you are. For how loving to us you are. For how trustworthy you are. And we declare today that our trust is in you. We again surrender our lives and our plans to you. Have your way always! We love you, Father!
In Jesus name, amen.
