January 15, 2025 - John 11:17, 21-25a
“Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.” John 11:17, 21-25a ESV
Jesus, you are the resurrection and the life. There is nothing that is too dead and rotten that you can’t revive. Raising Lazarus from the dead 4 days after he died was not an issue for you. You can create life out of nothing so putting life back into a dead body is easy. Lord, why do we doubt you? Things may look impossible for us, but nothing is impossible for you. Resurrecting things isn’t even a task for you, it is just who you are. It comes naturally and easy for you because it is who you are. When you come into the picture, you bring life. Wherever you are, life springs up.
Lord, what are the areas of our life that you want to bring life to? Help us believe that those areas that we have lost hope for, are not too hard for you. All we need to do is let go of control and give it to you. When we invite you in and let you have your way in that area, we will see change. It’s impossible for you to be there and not bring life. Give us a greater understanding of that. Let that understanding increase our faith to believe you for the impossible in our lives and in the lives of those you have and will place in our lives. When we pray for you to enter into situations, let us trust that your resurrection power is bringing life into those situations and things are changing. We praise you for who you are. How wonderful and mighty you are.
In Jesus name, amen.
