January 14, 2023 - Proverbs‬ ‭14‬:‭30

“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” Proverbs 14:30 NLT

Lord, we want to be people who have peaceful hearts. Give us your insight on what state our heart is really living in. Are we living with too much worry in our hearts? Teach us how to fully turn these worries over to you and leave them in your hands. You are more than capable of handling them. We want to see our trust in you increase. Show us the places in our hearts where worry lives; the places where we have not successfully handed things over to you. Lord, help us surrender these places to you, and as we do, replace them with your peace.

Lord, we also want to bring our stress to you. Please show us what is causing us to be stressed and how to change it. Is this a situation that we need to change? If we need to do so, please show us how? Is it something that we have taken on that you have not told us to? Open our eyes to anything that we just need to let go of and move on. Is it something that we just need to surrender to you and trust you with? Lord, remind us to bring things to you in prayer. That is the best way that we will see a situation change. We ask that as we pray that you would fill us with your peace. Even if the situations causing our stress haven’t changed, we want our heart to be peaceful instead of stressed.

Lord, we also ask that you open our eyes to any place that we have allowed jealousy to take up residence in our hearts. That is simply not acceptable; it must go. This verse says it is like a cancer to our bones. It will eat us up from the inside. Teach us how to recognize jealousy the second it shows up on the scene of our lives. We want to get in the habit of immediately starting to pray blessings over the situation that we are jealous of and thank you for giving that person whatever we are jealous over.

In Jesus name, amen.
