January 11, 2025 - Song of Songs 5:2
“I slept, but my heart was awake. A sound! My beloved is knocking. “Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one, for my head is wet with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.”” Song of Solomon 5:2 ESV
Jesus, how we see you pursuing us is amazing. In this verse, we see that you stood there and knocked long enough for your hair to be dripping wet from the dew. You don’t give up on us. You knock at the doors of our heart. You call to us and ask to be fully let into our lives. Your love is so great. We are a mess, we cause you pain, we choose other things over you, yet you are there knocking. Oh Lord, grow our desire for more of you. Help us to never leave you outside. When you knock, we want to answer and give you our attention. You are worth whatever else we need to press aside to focus on you. Let us encounter more of your love and leave us longing for more and more.
We are so grateful that you pursue us, but we also want to pursue you. We call out to you and knock at your door. We praise you for telling us that when we knock you will answer. Give us a desire to continually go deeper in knowing you. We don’t want to quit knocking when you have let us into your kingdom. We want to keep going deeper until we get to where you dwell and knock there. But don’t let us stop at that. Let us keep going deeper until we are knocking at your heart. Show us how to get there. We want to know your heart. We want to get lost inside of who you are. We want to fall deeply in love with you and know you intimately. Share the secrets of your heart with us and let them transform us. Let your love draw us to these places, our precious Jesus. Keep pursuing us to go deeper and give us an overwhelming desire to pursue you like we never have before.
In Jesus name, amen.
