January 10, 2023 - Proverbs 10:9-10
“People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed. People who wink at wrong cause trouble, but a bold reproof promotes peace.” Proverbs 10:9-10 NLT
Lord, we praise you for the promises in this verse. Remind us of these when we are dealing with those who walk crooked paths. It is easy to want to respond to them in a way that pays them back for the crookedness, but Lord, that isn’t our job. That is your job. We can trust you to handle it. You see the heart and you know how to change it. We want to be concerned with our walk and not others’ walk. We want to be people who walk with integrity in all that we do, even if we are dealing with people who don’t walk with integrity. Help us overcome the temptation to participate with them, especially if their way will make the situation easier, save us money, save us time, benefit us, etc. It is really easy for us to want to take the “high road” when it benefits us, but when the “low road” seems innocent and beneficial, help us still choose to walk in integrity.
Lord, we don’t want to flirt with evil or wrong causes. We want to steer far from them so there is no chance of our intentions being mistaken by anyone. If a gray area exists between what is right and wrong, we don’t even want to hang out in the gray area at all. Lord, we want to run towards righteousness. Help us guard ourselves from doing anything that someone would see and assume that something evil took place. We don’t want to live in such a way that our actions could easily be misinterpreted. Help us always remember that our lives represent you and we want people to see you in all that we do. Let us be people who walk a righteous path and bring peace everywhere we go.
