January 1, 2025 - John 3:16-17
“For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. “God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!” John 3:16-17 TPT
Lord, we begin this new year wanting to discover more of who you are. Holy Spirit, open our eyes, we want to see Jesus. As we focus on you this month, with these prayers, reveal the Son to us. Help us fall deeper in love with him. Open our minds and give us revelation from your Word. Open our ears to hear your voice. Let us encounter this pure love like we never have before.
Father, as we read this verse, we can’t help but see your great love for us. You gave your Son to us as a gift. You gave him knowing that meant you would be separated from each other and your perfect unity. You knew that he would suffer, be an outcast, be rejected, be beaten, suffer a sinner’s cruel death. You gave him to us so that we could have an everlasting life with you, but you knew that some people would reject your perfect gift and the opportunity to have everlasting life with you. Jesus was your only son, your best, and you chose to give him to us. Jesus was and is your first fruit and you gave him to us as a gift. Wow. What a gift. Your gift of Perfect Love didn’t come to judge and condemn, but to save and give life. We deserve judgement and condemnation, but your love makes a way for us. We are amazed by your love for us. We can never praise you enough. Give us an even greater understanding of how great and powerful your love is. Reveal to us your Son. Let us behold and cherish him. Help us fall in love with you all over again and let that love grow deeper than it has ever been.
In Jesus name, amen.
