February 8, 2025 - Judges‬ ‭15‬:‭14‬-‭15‬

“When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting to meet him. Then the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that has caught fire, and his bonds melted off his hands. And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put out his hand and took it, and with it he struck 1,000 men.” Judges 15:14-15 ESV

Holy Spirit, what an amazing gift you are to us. Never let us overlook you or think less of you than what you are. We are so grateful for you. It is through you that we have the power to be an overcomer in this world. With your help, we can overcome sin. With your help we can draw close to God. With your help, we can understand the mysteries of God. With your help we can be comforted through the hardest seasons of life. With your help we are transformed into Christ’s image. With your help we can literally do the impossible. We look at this passage about Samson in Judges. When you came upon him, he was able to burst out of the new ropes binding him and then killed 1000 men with the jawbone of a donkey. That seems so unrealistic it makes you think of something we would see in a cartoon. But as absurd as it sounds it happened. Nothing is impossible when we are operating in your power.

Holy Spirit, we ask for you to help us understand what a necessary gift you are to us. We want to live our lives in a way where we are always walking in your power and strength. We want to see your fruits in abundance in our lives. Make them our way of life. Grow us and transform us into who we were created to be. Give us a desperate hunger to draw closer to God. Help us understand the pain our sin causes God and give us the strength to overcome it. Purify us and set us apart from the world for God’s sole use. We want to see you use us to bring glory to God by doing the impossible through us.
