February 8, 2022 - 1 Corinthians 3:1-3
“Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?” 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NLT
Lord, we don’t want to remain infants. Please grow us up spiritually. Open our eyes to any place in our lives where we have not grown up. Show us the places where you are still having to having to feed us milk. Show us any place where our growth has slowed. Open our eyes to the places where we are allowing our sinful nature to rule and control us. Lord, not just in the areas that we would consider “big” sins but help us overcome our sinful nature in the areas that we so easily overlook. The areas such as of ungratefulness, bitterness, gluttony, unforgiveness, selfishness, envy, and the like. Lord, show us any sin, whether we see it as “big or small”, that has a place in our lives. We don’t want any sinful action to control us and hold us back from you. Please forgive us for giving it a place and show us how to fully remove it from our lives.
Show us how to mature our spirits. Show us how to live every area of our lives in your kingdom principals and not in the spirit of this world. Show us how to live in unity and love others more than we love ourselves. Teach us how to forgive and forget the way you do. Help us always believe the best about others. We want to challenge other to be better people and not condemn them if they stumble. We want to be like you in every area of our lives.
In Jesus name, amen.
