February 6, 2023 - Psalms 139:7-10
“I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.” Psalms 139:7-10 NLT
Lord, how marvelous that we can’t escape you. As your followers, why would we ever want to escape you? You are our wonderful, loving Father. Life would not be worth living if we were to be truly separated. And since you are the source of life, being fully separated from you would be the end of us. Praise you that you will never leave us. We praise you for loving us unconditionally.
Lord, even though we can’t escape your presence, we read in Isaiah 59:1-2 that when we walk in sin, it does separate us from you. You are Holy and sin can’t stand in your presence. We praise you that forgiveness makes a way for us to come before you and have a relationship with you. Jesus, thank you so much for making a way for this to happen. Help us to be intentional about bringing our sins to you for forgiveness so that we can live our lives in your holy presence.
Lord, we also think about all the people on our planet who don’t know you and don’t understand how much you want to forgive them and bring them into your presence. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 says, that on judgement day, those who don’t know you will spend eternity away from your presence and glory. Lord, we know that will break your heart. It should break ours too. Let it motivate us to do all that we can to share your love with the lost. Help us bring understanding to them about how they too have a loving Father that they can rejoice in. You are a Father who will always be there for them just like this verse describes. We don’t want anyone to spend eternity in hell that we could have reached.
In Jesus name, amen.
