“Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.” Romans 14:12-13 NLT
Lord, when we stand before you one day to give the account for our lives, we don’t want to have regrets. We don’t want to look back and see all the areas we were lacking in, the opportunities that we miss, or the places we caused harm to others instead of helping. We want to learn to live our lives in a way that is honoring to you and in obedience to you. Open our eyes to the places that we are lacking. Continue to grow us spiritually. Show us how to change the areas that need changing. Give us the strength to walk in obedience to what you are asking even if it is hard.
Lord, we also never want to cause our “brother” to stumble or have any of our actions to push an unbeliever further away from you. We thank you so much for the freedoms that you have given us in our walk with you. Lord, we recognize that the walk you have called each of us to isn’t a cookie cutter of our “brother’s” walk. Our callings are each different. The walk you have asked us each to walk is different. You may tell me I can’t do something that you have told my “brother” he can do, or vice versa. Help us to never judge because we don’t know what path you are asking them to walk. If this judging spirit is within us, we ask that you destroy it.
Lord, we want to prefer our brother over our own comforts or rights. We know that just because we have the right to do something doesn’t mean it is the most loving thing we can do. When needed help us be willing to lay down our rights for our brother’s sake. We want our lives to promote unity in your church and not divisions. Point out any place that our selfishness is ruling instead of preferring our “brother”. Lord, you are so worth anything we need to surrender!
In Jesus name, amen.
